The Safe-zone resides on a small island, Just off the coast, Surrounded by huge, electrified fences about half a mile in. Beyond this cages reside the few survivors. Some, those lucky enough to possess the correct skills, reside in the Libertas Organisation. A huge, metallic building that sits up on the hill, surrounded by wind turbines and huge water tanks that power the whole island, overlooking the town-like facilities below. Inside Libertas are reasonable, if not luxurious, living conditions. Reliable Electricity. Working hot water. Working heating. Proper beds. Proper meals. Training rooms. Computers. High-Tech and comfortable..Even for the lesser members of the organisation. Even in the cells that reside in the basement.
...Just a little further down the hill, However, Reside the rest of the survivors. Poor souls. The streets are lined with small, Metallic hut-like houses on a dusty, dirt track that had, once upon a time, been comfortable. Much like the Libertas Organisation when the safe-zone was first established, They had reliable heating...electricity...hot water...Now, You're lucky to get a shower. Some of the luckier survivors manage to find more reliable places than others, causing conflict on top of the other miseries that lurk around. A little further past the huts is what most call "down-town". The broken, crumbling remains of buildings that had once resembled shops and libraries, Offering goods and luxuries. Now, Most of the buildings have been turned into bars...brothels...drug dens...Most sales are done around back alleys, Swapping services for goods and goods for services. Currency is scarce now.
A mile or two from the "town" lays a stream that filters into the Island's water tanks. It is one of the few, serene features on the island...A real taste of real nature away from the vandalism and urban destruction just down the road. It is surrounded by woodland and greenery and it is here were everything is grown and food is scavenged...
One every week, The Libertas organisation hand out supplies but...It's not enough for the quantity of people behind these fences and, while their used to be assigned roles...Farmers for this, Farmers for that, Bakers, Cooks, Brewers,, Everyone outside the organisation has to fend for themselves now...After all, The system has fallen apart and crumbles still.
What was once a cosy living arrangement has become a fight for survival.
